technological modelling
I understand this component is about:
- Functional modeling which: includes brain storming of ideas; utilizing imagination, use of CAD (computer aided design) software, diagrams, patterns, plans, mockups as part of the modelling process. Ideas are tested and refined in functional modelling.
- Prototype modeling which is the final model that will go into design work or mass production.
- Technological modeling is matched against the brief to ascertain its “fitness for purpose”.
How do key understandings regarding this component link to my product?
- In brainstorming ideas for a puppet shapes to represent myself and my son and partner, I utilised a brainstorming chart to note down ideas for possible shapes.
- Once I decided to use the bure and kiwi shapes I then googled images of both. In doing so, I found a "free to use" template for a kiwi outline on the following website. http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/kiwi-frame
- Diagrams of both shapes noting where the hinge would be placed joining both parts, as well as photo placement for my son and partner on the kiwi, were drawn by me to give me an idea of the possible look of the puppet.
Diagram of both kiwi and bure noting position of hinge joining both parts of the puppet; and photo placement on kiwi for my son and partner.
- Final plans with measurements of both parts of the puppet (bure and kiwi) were drawn up on squared maths graph paper. Measurements were noted in millimetres. Measurements then transferred to wood in actual size for shapes to be cut out.
